Flat to choppy water with up to 1/2 meter of wave action. There are some flat riding area depending on the sand banks. There are 600 meters of rideable area before you get to the river mouth where you will find really nice flat conditions, but there are crocodiles and is not recommended for people who spend a lot of time in the water. Be warned don't kite north of the the rigging area as this can lead you to being swept onto rocks or the swimming area. Be aware of Stinger (jelly fish) during season.

Wind direction is S to SE usually 12-20 knts but can blow to 25 knts on good days. Very consistent during April to September. Best winds start from June. Usually builds up at noon till evening.

10 minutes north of the airpoirt or 15 mins north of the city. Buses do run from the city center. If driving with a car, take the Yorkeys Knob turn off and follow your nose to the beach. Kite area is 200m north of the main beach. It is the 2nd beach north to the airport.
Stay north of the rigging area. Beginners please stay south of the main area and stay out of the high use area. Do not teach here as there are 2 schools that have permits and you will be fined by Marine parks if you run any commercial activity without a permit. Check about the stinger (jelly fish) season, which ends in June, before getting in the water.
