Although the lake is surrounded by high mountains (former volcano crater), the wind is pretty stable. Only few wind directions work, East is the best. With East winds the wind is onshore on the launch on the west side.

Sao Miguel is an island belong to the Azores. Drive northwest to Sete Cidades and here you will find the lake. Drive to the west shore for a good launch in East winds.
