Nice sandy beach with lots of space. The west beach is very long, almost as long as the island Hiddensee. So pick an access, prefer a beach without wave breakers and with less tourists. Further south of the main tourist area is the best.

Westerly winds with depressions. Best from fall to spring. Summer lighter. Works good in westerlies.

Hiddensee is an island west of Ruegen. Only accessable by boat. No cars on the island. Take a boat from Stralsund or from Schaprode. From Stralsund, head for 'Insel Ruegen' stay on the mainroad once you crossed the bridge. Take a left in Samtens, heading for Gingst. Follow the signs to Schaprode. Take a boat/ferry in the harbour.
Watch out for the wave breakers. On a nice SW wind you can do a trip to Hiddensee, starting from Suhrendorf on Ruegen. Ride to the small harbour of Neuendorf. Then carry your gear for about 500m through a forest and enjoy fun waves.
Good nightlife in Stralsund.
