Type: | Shallow, Flat, Chop |
Hazards: | None |
Quality: | Crystal Clear |
Best Tide: | High Tide, Low Tide, Coming Tide |
Beautiful, crystal clear, flat water. No water during low tide for 100m then up to 2m at high tide. A (tide-dependent) waist-high area stretching 150 m into the sea. Apparently there can be waves when the wind is westerly. There are no reefs or stones, only just for about 10m in front of the beach, which are quiet sharp. Huge lagoons and playground further upwind (North). At low tide the lagoon dries out, leaving only few ridable channels. But the you get very flat and smooth water. Be careful at low tide anywhere, it can get very shallow. Around the lagoons you can find excellent speed areas for up to 800m long.

Beautiful sand with sea shells about 100m wide. Lots of space. Some umbrellas may disturb for launching, but kiters should launch to the right. The long coastal strip curves windward here, creating a bay, and stretches further and further out into the water for a kilometer, forming sandbank, before receding again.

Main Direction: | N, NNE, NE, NW, NNW |
Good wind from spring to autumn. Can be good in winter, but not as consistent as in summer. The wind can blow sideshore across the wide sandbank and there are no gusts or turbulence. The North to Northeast wind blows sideshore and gains force during the morning, reaching its maximum by midday. Towards the end of the afternoon, the wind generally dies down again. Normally a light breeze and flat water in the morning.

Plane to Cairo, bus or taxi transfer to Ramada Ras Sudr (20km further than Ras Sudr village). About 80km south of the Suez-Canal entry. Drive for about 3 hrs from Cairo and about 4 hrs from Sharm-El-Sheik.
Windsurfers surf to the left of the tower in the water and kiters to the right. Kiters should watch out for the tower at any time. Upwind big lagoons. Watch out, two smaller, but very nice lagoons are private and you can get into trouble.
No nightlife at all but excellent fish restaurant and good pizza in the San Remo restaurant, after dinner great tea at the bar in the main square.
