The wind in Playa Grande is about 1 Bft less strong than in Cabarete. During summer the wind picks up at around noon and stays until sunset. The wind is gustier closer to shore. Don't get too close to the cliff at the west end of the beach, since here no wind will blow. If you cannot stay upwind and miss the beach, ride further west to Playa Grande, which is around the corner.
