Excellent waves on SW winds and swell from the ocean. Due to long wave breakers you can have very flat water in between on low tide. On high tide you can't see the wave breakers, so be careful. Watch out for the current when the tides change. Some obstacles in the water.

Sandy beach, which gets very small on high tide. It can even vanish, then the only access to the water is directly from the promenade. Lots of space on low tide. Further south the beach gets a big bigger.

Get directions from


Take A28 and A31 to Emden. Exit at Emden-Nord onto B210 and Georgsheil turn left onto B72 direction Norden. In Norden towards Norddeich. Now you need to take a ferry for about 45min. On Norderney get to the Northwest of the island and find the Kaiserwiese coming from the Kaiserstrasse. Long walk to the water. Special rules for using your car during the season. Check the internet before you go.
