Beach shelves gently, a few rocks at northern end at low tide but better sailing is normally at southern end of beach. Waves can get big if strong north westerly otherwise water state dictated by local wind conditions. Sailable at most states of tide.

Go to the southern end if the beach is busy although this is only likely in peak summer periods. Outside of peak periods good learning venue at low tides loads of space for those embarrassing drags up the beach. Access by car park.

Beach faces Northwest. Wind can vary between 0-90 mph, depending on depressions. Wind is only clean between West and NNW otherwise gusty because of headlands.

Get directions from


From Swansea M4 to Camarthen then follow A40 to Fishguard then A487 east through Newport. First left after Golden Lion, follow signs to beach park, either in car park (free off-season) or on beach but check time and height of tides (big spring tides cover most of the beach).

Nightlife
All local pubs are good but rural some stay open late if you keep a low profile.
