Typhoon Lagoon is actually an ancient Hawaiian fish pond. Silky smooth on the inside, point breaks on the outside and big blue ocean swells on the outside. Wind direction changes, but it is generally sideoffshore making for perfect wave riding.

Wind can absolutely rip through Maui's volcanoes blessing Typhoon Lagoon with `smoking wind`. Often experienced local riders venture out on 13, 16, 19m lines to deal with the intense wind. Super windy in the summer, marginal winds in winter.

Exit the airport, take a left at `God's warehouse` to traverse the island, once across turn left...go to the 1000 block and turn right on Waipulani, straight to Waipulani Park.
