The water here is beautiful. In Mancora you have everything from the point which has a great left hand peeling wave that is pretty easy to kite on to beach break launch ramps that are more down in the bay. The point starts off as cobble stone rocks that on a low tide can be exposed and will take your fins right off. High tide there is nothin to worry about. the inside of the point is all sand.

Sandy beach. November, December and January busiest months, but not really the windy season, so of no consequence. Beaches are never really crowded, as there is so much beach.

Very good winds and very consistent. The wind direction is always S to SW and this is side to side on for the bay in Mancora. The actual wind and wave in Mancora itself can be hit or miss, with an average of 3-4 days of wind a week.

Get directions from

Fly to Tumbes and drive 1.5 hours, or Piura and drive 2.5 hours to Mancora. You can also fly to Guayaquil, Ecuador and take a 6 hour bus ride directly to Mancora. Getting transportation from any of the airports is easy. The cheapest way is to fly to Lima as there are often very cheap flights from Ft.Lauderdale and Miami. From Lima to Mancora is 15 hour bus ride, but there are 2 companies which provide sleeper buses with seats that fully recline into a bed. The ride up the coast is a good way to see the country. Cruz del Sur and Excluciva; you can purchase Cruz del Sur tickets online. Be warned that Spirit Airlines from Ft.Lauderdale, while cheap, only allows 1 bag for luggage; not 1 suitcase and 1 kite bag.

Extra Information
Rules:
Other

Like any spot that is good for surfing, give the right away to the surfers that are paddling in, if they are in the line up. Also, be respectful of the locals. Practice good wave riding etiquette by not short jibing other kiters that are further up the point, get into the rotation..... and take your turn. If you are jumping around on a twin tips and guys are kiting the waves, get out of the waves and jump around in the bay out of the way. Don't leave trash on the beach.

Nightlife
Some bars and restaurants in Mancora. Be very careful where you eat, as many beach front shacks lack refrigeration. Samana Chakra restaurant is excellent (but not really in town and probably sort of on the expensive side), and Geko's great for pizza and garlic bread - both owned by kiters. There is also a fabulous steak house right near kite beach. The nightlife is fun and cheap, just head down to the bars around 10pm and things start to pick up. Enjoy one of the burgers from the road side guys; great after drinking food.
