Can be very nice waves up to 2m. During the first Poniente days mainly flat water. With several strong Poniente days and high tide, a lagoon is created, about 1.5 km long and up to 200m wide. Excellent for a downwinder to Tarifa (Playa Chica). Many kitesurfers during summer.

Levante is offshore, gusty and strong between 15-30 knots normally but some days 40 knots. Then only experienced windsurfers should go out. Poniente (West wind) is perfect for kitesurfing with 8-20 knots.

Get directions from


From Tarifa drive towards Cadiz. About 1 km outside Tarifa turn left into a small dirt road, leading you to a parking lot and a many pines trees. Free parking. 40 min of walking to Tarifa.

No camping on the parking lot. Cars higher than 2.20m cannot pass onto the beach parking lot.

Nightlife
A nightclub near by at the beach. Only opened in the high season. But always nightlife in Tarifa.
