Sandy and rocky beach. Dirty beach, not much space when many people are around. Not a safe launch. Avoid weekends and holidays. Starting at dusk swarms of mosquitoes emerge and stay until the wind starts the following day. Be prepared to experience a dangerous launch on weekends due to crowded cove with tons of motor homes, cars and trucks in your way.

10-20 mph, even when it is not blowing in Las Vegas. Almost always gusty winds from the South. Launch is situated in a cove with hills and trees upwind that trigger updrafts that have lofted many. Keep kite low if you go and have someone walk you to water. Sand bag your kite when not in use. This beach is very wind shadowed when it's offshore and not suggested to ride this direction. Also note the onshore wind will back out away from shore in the afternoon, if this happens beware of huge dust devils that spin down slope and out through this canyon. Updrafts over the South point result in lofting kiters into the mesquite trees, rocks vehicles and bathrooms.

This is no beginner spot! A crosswind point protects each exit; any mistake when leaving the cove and you must abort. Please be very careful, the wind is fluky at these points and the trees eat kites. Listen and watch the locals that know the conditions. Don't jump inside the buoys. Rangers don't tolerate violations during busy times.

Nightlife
For great nightlife go to Las Vegas. However, 6 Mile cove frequently has local nightlife during the summer months for campers.
