Lake Erie is the smallest of the Great Lakes - it does freeze over the winter. It gets choppy with some wind. The break (impact zone) can get as big as 1m. The swell on the outside can get as big as 4m when the winds are over 25-30 knots.
Beach
Type:
Sand
Size:
Big
Hazards:
Bystanders
Beach Users:
July, August

The beach is quite wide and easy to rig on, some times it becomes crowded with people, but there is usually some room as people don't often sit on the beach when its blowing. Also another bonus about the beach is that it is very wide and pure sand. However in the summer there is often seaweed that washes on shore and is a pain getting off the lines.

Wind

Best Months:
April, May, August, September, October
Wind Type:
Frontal Winds
Best Direction:
WSW
Main Direction:
SW, WSW

Wind out of the SW is the prevailing wind. WSW wind blows mostly in the fall when NW is blowing everywhere else. WSW wind is sideshore and it is a set up for an epic session when it blows hard. 30 knot plus winds are not uncommon during the fall months.
