It is the Chesapeake Bay. Large body of water. Usually has a 1-2 foot chop. Shallow for about 300 yards out then drops off. There are some shipping lanes out in the middle. The Bay Bridge is to the South of the Launch. Booties are a must in my opinion. Too much crap in the bay. There is a just-submerged truck tire (bad for windsurf fins) about 30 meters south of the boardwalk.
Beach

Sand

Small
Hazards:
No Info
Beach Users:
None

It is a narrow beach that faces West. There is room to rig and launch your kite. Not a beach for hanging out, so there will not be sunbathers there. Bugs are there when it is warm.

Wind

Best Months:
September, October, November
Wind Type:
Frontal Winds

N, NW
Main Direction:

The best direction for this launch is N, NW. If it gets more West it is directly onshore. Anything from the South is obstructed by the Bay Bridge. Fall is the best for the NW flow.

How to get there

Car
Access:
Long Walk

Get directions from

From anywhere you want to head over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. This is right near Annapolis. Take 50 East, pay bridge toll (about 2.50 USD) and proceed over bridge. Take first exit RT 8 north. Take a left into business park about 1.5 miles from exit. Paul Reed Smith Guitars is the main building you will see. Bear around to the right of the business and look for entrance to Terrapin Park. Park and proceed down to the beach. A map will be posted at entrance to review how to get to the launch. You need a car to get to this beach. There is about a quarter to half mile walk from where you park your car.
