Type: | Shallow, Flat, Chop, Small Wave (< 1m) |
Hazards: | Shells |
Quality: | Cloudy |
Best Tide: | Low Tide |
High tide: choppy, no swell but waves and troughs can build up. Low tide: excellent for learners. Tidal pools with flat water available with shallow water for quite a way out. Wear wet boots if you're a beginner who is going to be standing a lot. Very sharp pebbles/shells. Training areas to East of water outfall pipe. Locals will give this area a wide berth or West of the westerly water outfall pipe. Beginners should not use the areas in between the outfall pipes; it will get busy and locals will enforce agreement they have with the Fareham Council on launch/training areas. Experienced riders should stay at least 50 meters from shore and no tricks within 100 unless beach is empty. Gets very crowded on good days, stay clear of locals who are very protective of the location...can be abrupt! Local council is waiting for an excuse to close the grass launch area. Code of conduct is available from any local surfer as they follow it fairly rigidly. Ask advice and it's generally given freely.
