River Torrens outlet flows a few times a year. Water may become cloudy/dirty for a few days following heavy rain. Sharks have been sighted close to shore at these times. Shark Patrols (rotary and fixed wing aircraft) operate daily during summer months. Stay well clear of swimmers.

Spring and summer (November to February): sea breezes (SW) give most consistent conditions. Watch for windshifts to SE (slight offshore and gusty) late in the day. Autumn (March to May) is nearly windless. Winter. Pre-frontal NWs..a great ride at "The Wall", North Haven (15km north). Post frontal W-SWs an OK ride, but can be very choppy - try Seacliff(15 km south) .

Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) permission required to fly kites - within 4000m of airport. CASA has allocated a kite flying area - limited to the beach and 500m out to sea between Gilmore Rd and the River Torrens outlet. AKSA membership strongly recommended. Respect other beach users/avoid swimmers. Keep kites and lines well clear of beach access walkways.

Nightlife
Henley Square 1km north for restaurants, cafes, pubs. Glenelg 4km south.
