Get off the beach quickly due to gusty and shifty winds inside.

Easiest is a rental car. Follow the signs to the Outer Banks from Norfolk (route 168S and then 158S). Then take route 12 south all the way down and just before Avon turn right. From Avon it is the first dirt road to the left.
Can get crowded with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Keep distance.
