Sand

Medium
Hazards:
Rocks
Beach Users:
None

Sand beach about 150m long and 70m wide. Beach surrounded by cliffs, in downwind direction there is only one more beach (Playa del Hombre) that you can go out of the water with out a lot of troubles if something goes wrong especially dangerous with waves. You have to be good in going upwind because if not you end at the rocks of the right side. When not staying upwind, go to the open ocean and the wind is better there.

Wind

Best Months:
May, June, July, August, September
Wind Type:
Trade Winds
Best Direction:
NE, ENE
Main Direction:
NE

The only direction of wind is Northeast, the more East the better. With North the wind is very turbulent at the beach. Gusty near shore because of the little mountain of the left. In summer and when it's blowing 30+ knots in Pozo Izquierdo, then in Playa del Hombre it's about 20 knots.

Extra Information
Rules:
None

It's a beach for experts only, you need to be very good going upwind. If not, you will end at the right side on cliffs. Always try to sail to the left to leave enough room to come back to the beach if something goes wrong. Only in summer there is a possibility for rescue from Melenara Red Cross but only if you call emergency 112 and they could be there in 15 minutes if everything goes ok. It's a surfing spot you have to be very kind with them. Usually they only surf when the tide is high and for kitesurf it's easy going with low tide.
