Shallow inside the 'reef', very flat at westerly winds. Bottom is sandy with some spread out big rocks in the water further south on the beach. The spot is not very big, more than 5-7 riders and some have to move further south towards Tofta which is on the same beach.

Narrow sandy beach with grass and dunes behind, a few trees here and there. Enter the water just south of the harbor.

Winds are dependent on the weather systems moving in over Europe, no predictable trades or sea breeze. Best direction is W, possible to ride from S to NW. Best from April to June and August to October, July is usually less windy.

Get directions from


Gotland is off the shore from the Swedish East coast. To Gotland by ferry or air, arrive in Visby. Drive 18km south along the coast, turn right towards Gnisvaerd. Park at the grassy parking lot just south of the Gnisvaerd harbor and walk straight out to the beach from there.

There is a "no surf" zone posted on the information board. Lots of families in the summer, go somewhere else if it is too crowded.
