Sweet water lake. This place is very famous as very close to the main city Bordeaux. You have shallow water for about 300 meters and afterwards the water is going deeper. It's a very good place for learning and practicing new tricks on the flat water. In the middle of the lake you sometimes have small waves (1 meter) but it's very rare.

You have grass and sand for landing and launching so it's quite safe. Just be careful with the trees as there are quite a few a long the beach which can badly cut your kite.

During summer (June to August) you usually have a nice thermic wind (10-20knots) which starts to blow from beginning of the afternoon (with the tide) up to the end of the afternoon. Direction is usually West-Northwest in the afternoon while it's East in the morning. September to October is the blowing season with depression bringing strong wind up to 35-40 knots. Just check the weather forecast and you'll get a fair picture. Direction is usually West-South-Southwest.

From Bordeaux take D6 west to Lacanau. When you arrive to Lacanau town just go straight ahead to the lake direction which is 500m away. Parking area is just in front of the beach so you can't miss it.
This spot can be crowded so be careful especially in summer. Then it has plenty of windsurfers and kitesurfers.
