NW

Very gusty close to the city, stay downwind of it. Primary NW wind direction is sideoffshore, and disturbed by town buildings and related infrastructure. Don't kite here, because gusts can be 3 Bft in difference, e.g. 4 to 7 Bft. Dangerous launching and landing on the high wind days due to gust factor. Strong winds. The bay curves making SW onhsore in the North and NW onshore in the South. Possible strong gusty wind 30-40 knots in July and August.

Airports are either Marrakesh (2 hours drive) or Agadir (2.5 hours drive). Agadir is more serviced by charter flights. Either rent a car at airport location (approximately 30-45 Euro/day for normal car, 4wheel drive 100 Euro/day!), or take taxi services from airport to Essaouira. Marrakesh to Essaouira taxi service is around 50 Euro one way. There's also a small airport in Essaouira connected with Casa Blanca and other destinations. Check with Air-Marocc.

Extra Information
Rules:
Restricted Zones

Stay out of the swimmer zones. Gusty but safe. Nothing specific, other than use common sense due to fact that many bystanders around, respect local population (non-kiting) - they are the nicest people you will ever meet. The bay is not the best spot for Kite, but 500m to south there is a small bay where the wind comes side off (but still safe, because it's a bay), and it's not so gusty as in the bay. Downwinders for 3-4 km and return with camel possible.
