There's a great slick behind the jetty on a SW wind. The riding area is large, shallow and generally uncrowded. There are several options for downwinders in N, NW and SW winds. Downwinders include waves, flat water, and beautiful natural terrain and scenery.

Wide sand beach (huge at low tide). Jetty at south end of the beach. Ample free parking right at the launch spot(s). Plenty of room to launch and land. Excellent gawker potential as well.
Best Months: | April, May, September, October, November |
Wind Type: | Frontal Winds |
Best Direction: | SW, NW |
Main Direction: | No Info |
Best wind in April, May, September, October and November. Best directions SW and NW. When the water temperature is cold (below 55 degrees from November through March) south west winds will usually not make it across the bay. I can be blowing 25 knots southwest in Virginia Beach, and only 5 knots in Cape Charles because the warm southwest breeze can't make it across the cold bay.

Access: | Short Walk |
Cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from Virginia Beach. Travel 10 miles North on Hwy 13. Turn left at stop light just past `Food Lion` grocery store. Go to end the end of the road. Walk over the dune (use boardwalks please!). You're there! Just north of Cape Charles Harbor.
