Flat to choppy water. Shallow areas. During summer many boats anchored in front of the beach. Flat water at low tide (2 hours before and after low tide). Very choppy at up tide and strong currents. Very clear water.

During summer (June to August) you usually have a nice thermal wind (10-20knots) which starts to blow from beginning of the afternoon (with the tide) up to the end of the afternoon. Direction is usually West to Northwest in the afternoon while it's East in the morning. September to October is the blowing season with depression bringing strong wind up to 35-40 knots. Direction is usually West to Southwest. Never kite with East wind on this spot or you may not come back!

Get directions from


From Bordeaux drive southwest on A63, A660 and N250 to Arcachon. From here drive southwest towards Pyla sur Mer and get onto Allee des Arbousiers and take it to the water.
