The rolling wind swell culminates in chest-high small period waves that break over the reefs and beach. If there are high waves but marginal wind you might have a hard time getting off the beach. You need to be powered to get past the breaking waves. Lots of rocks in front of the hotel.

A car is necessary. From Los Barriles, drive south on 1 until around km 104. Look for a Rancho Leonero sign marking a dirt road heading left towards the water. Follow the road for 8 km to the hotel. Park at the hotel and walk to the north or south, or drive south to the end of the housing development and find a way to the beach. Rancho Leonero is about 15 minutes south of Buena Vista and Los Barriles, BCS, Mexico.

Extra Information

The very luxurious houses to the south of the hotel are often for rent. With a big group they could be affordable (but still $30-$50 per person per night). The hotel is rather expensive as well but has a full-board option with decent food. If you want to *really* get away from it all and have a beach to yourself then this is a good place. No restaurants, no markets, no night clubs, nothing without a 15 minute drive to BV and LB. It's a good place for a day-trip from Los Barriles if you want to play in breaking waves or be alone...there's nobody else here. It's also a convenient pick-up location for a long downwinder from Los Barriles.

Nightlife
None.
