At low tide it is a little muddy, but there is a lot of space to launch. At high tide, it is better to launch south of the Old Pier.

Wind is generally weaker than in the open ocean but can blow 20+ knots. Usual direction is north, which is sideshore. June can be foggy with not much wind. Great from mid July on.

Get directions from


5 hours drive south from Los Angeles (2 hours south of Ensenada, Baja Mexico). On eastern shore of inner San Quintin Bay, 4 miles west of Hwy.1, via dirt road. Motel on site of old grist mill.
